Painted limestone, Old Kingdom, Mid Dynasty IV - Early Dynasty V, ca. 2550-2460 B.C.E. The small head was probably part of a standing statue with a back pillar. Narrow eyes, the remains of jutting nose, a seamed face, and broad flat lips make this one of a restricted number of realistic depictions of aged officials from the Old Kingdom.
