Massive sinkhole shuts down Shelby County road

A massive sinkhole has opened up on a Shelby County road.

Sheriff’s officials on Friday said the growing sinkhole is on Highway 87 between Leah Lane and Crim Drive.

The Shelby County Emergency Management Agency estimates the hole is 30 feet wide and 25 feet deep.

The highway is currently impassable. They are asking motorists to avoid the area.
