When we planned our trip around the Basque Country (Euskadi) Lekeitio was on our must list. We went to this town from San Sebastián by car. The landscape was wonderful, so green, but the roads are not the best ones and too many turns. Even so the visit is worth it.

Lekeitio is a fishing village with around 7,000 population. The main attraction is its bay with a little island in front where you can walk at low tide.

Isuntza beach is very accessible, with many services around and a wonderful view to San Nicolás island. Just a few meters from the beach there is a little port and many bars with the traditional Pintxos!

Another attraction in Lekeitio is the main church. Built in 15th century on the ruins of a Roman Temple, this gotic temple looks huge for such a small town.

One more thing to do in Lekeitio is to wander around the beautiful old town streets.
