A Charlton Athletic friendly match was abandoned after just 49 minutes after their opponents stormed off the pitch - after allegedly assaulting the referee.
Championship new boys Charlton were taking on Romanian minnows Gaz Metan Medias in a 70-minute behind-closed-doors friendly in Malaga, Spain, on Thursday night.
But the game descended into a farce after Charlton were awarded a penalty shortly after the second half began.
Lyle Taylor was bundled over in the box, before Gaz Metan Medias players furiously reacted to the referee's decision to point to the spot.
In the shameful melee that followed, it was alleged that the match official was man-handled by the Romanian side's players.
Two red cards were subsequently shown.
The referee had looked like he wanted to abandon the game there and then following the disgraceful scenes.
But the decision was taken out of his hands after the disgruntled Gaz Metan Medias players stormed from the pitch.
They decided to withdraw from the fixture in protest at firstly the penalty decision, but then the two red cards which were shown to their players.
Charlton were leading 1-0 at the time.
However, the Charlton players and officials saw the funny side of the incident, taking the penalty themselves, which Taylor converted.
The match was Charlton's first game of pre-season and was the first chance for the team to blow off the cobwebs after a summer celebrating their promotion to the Championship.
A last-minute goal saw Charlton promoted via the play-off final against Sunderland in May.
Gaz Metan Medias are a top flight Romanian side, who finished 11th at the end of the Liga 1 campaign last year, before subsequently topping the 'relegation group' and securing their safety.
