City avenged their 1-0 defeat at Anfield earlier in the season, where their own bus was targeted by Liverpool fans.

And it appears that a minority of City supporters looked to take revenge, with The Athletic declaring Liverpool's coach was damaged.

They have stated that a window was cracked after a brick was thrown, though thankfully, no one on board is believed to have suffered any injuries.

Greater Manchester Police have subsequently launched an investigation into the shocking issue.

City condemned the alleged attack on Liverpool's team bus, while they also slammed supporters that sang 'inappropriate chants' aimed at Reds fans.

A statement on their website read: "Manchester City FC has been made aware that Liverpool FC’s coach sustained damage on its return journey following today’s game.

"Incidents of this kind are totally unacceptable, and we strongly condemn the actions of the individual(s) responsible.

"We will fully support Greater Manchester Police’s investigation into this incident in any way we can.

"Additionally, the Club is disappointed to have heard inappropriate chants from home fans during the game today.
