This wikiHow teaches you how to export your Skype chat history to another folder on your computer.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Skype Classic. If you’re using Windows, you’ll find it in the Windows menu (formerly known as the Start menu). If you have a Mac, you’ll find it in the Applications folder. Look for the blue icon with a white “S.”
    • These instructions will only work for the “Classic” version of Skype for Windows and macOS. If you’re using the Skype for Windows 10 app, go to https://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer, scroll down to the message that says “Skype for Windows 10 is already in your computer,” click Download, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.
  2. 2
Click the Skype menu. It’s at the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. 3
Click Privacy. It’s in the menu along the left side of the screen.
  4. 4
Click Export Chat History. It’s in the third group of settings.
  5. 5
Select a save location. This can be anywhere on your computer, including a removable drive.
  6. 6
Click Save. Your chat history, up to the moment you clicked the button, is now saved to the selected folder.
