Robbie Keane says he’s had no approaches from former clubs Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers

The former Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers striker is a free agent after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy.

Former Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Robbie Keane has told Talksport there has been no approach from either club for his services.

Keane is a free agent after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of last year and admitted he is keen to continue playing, despite being six months shy of his 37th birthday.

And though the Republic of Ireland international confirmed he has received interest from a number of English Championship clubs, he delivered a disappointing response to those Leeds and Wolves fans begging him to come back.

“I have had a couple of offers in England and abroad. I have had to knock back a couple because it was too far away.

“I have got a few offers on the table. I have had a lot of people asking are you coming back to Leeds, Wolves etc. But you can’t go somewhere where there is not an offer.

“I definitely haven’t heard from Leeds or Wolves. There are a few other Championship clubs who I don’t want to mention at the moment.”

Keane was recently linked with a move to Preston North End, and added: “Keep this space, the next couple of weeks and we will see what happens.”

Keane began his career at Wolves, where he scored 29 goals in 87 games to earn a £6 million move to Coventry City – becoming Britain’s most expensive teenager in the process.

After a brief spell with Inter Milan, the Dubliner returned to Engish football with Leeds, for whom he netted a similarly impressive 19 goals in 56 appearances before being sold to Tottenham Hotspur.

Both Leeds and Wolves are being tipped to add to their forward lines this month, with the Whites seeking competition for top scorer Chris Wood, and Paul Lambert’s strikers contributing just one league goal between them his November arrival at Molineux.

Should Leeds United/Wolverhampton Wanderers make a move for Keane this month?
