Biggest country stars gather to pay tribute to Louise

The biggest stars of country music will gather together on Thursday, June 22 next to celebrate with the legendary country singer Louise Morrissey to celebrate 35 years in the music business.

The multi-award winning artist, who hails from Bansha in County Tipperary, is admired and respected as one of Ireland's greatest female singers and performers and is often seen on television programmes, along with hosting her own radio show on Tipperary Midwest Radio. Throughout her career she has toured with such American country legends such at Charley Pride, Emmy-Lou Harris, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. What treasured memories she has!

Louise’s collection of hits are endless, spanning a career of 35 rewarding years, 'Slievenamon', 'Tipperary On My Mind', 'Flying Home To Aherlow', 'The Tear', 'The Cottage in the Country', 'September Sky', 'Circles', 'Come Down from the Mountain Katie Daly', 'All around my Hat' and 'Islands in the Stream' and many more favourites. Her great new album is appropriately titled Louise Morrissey 35 Years On and there is a varied selection of songs on it, including some originals by Irish writers.

This Thursday, June 22, Louise will be joined by some of the country music scene's biggest stars for what’s sure to be the concert of the year in the Shearwater Hotel Ballinasloe.

Louise’s great friend Derek Ryan will be sure to captivate the audience with his action packed set with some of his hugely popular hits such as 'Hold On To Your Hat', 'Pick a Bale of Cotton', 'God’s Plan' to mention but a few. Moate's Ray Lynam, gentleman and true country legend will sing from his vast array of hit songs such as 'Back in Love by Monday', 'Mona Lisa Lost her Smile' and 'He Stopped Loving Her Today'.

Meanwhile, Louise’s long-time friend Sandy Kelly whose award winning touching tribute to Patsy Cline has toured to high acclaim throughout the UK and Ireland and Sandy will also perform the beautiful 'Woodcarver', a hugely successful duet recorded with the late great Johnny Cash. John Mc Nicholl will melt hearts with his beautiful love songs 'You are no angel' and 'Someone is looking for someone like you'.

Then Mayo singer Stuart Moyles is sure to get feet tapping with his numerous very popular hit songs such as 'Westport Town' and 'Streets of Galway' and 'Little Bit of Livin'. The audience can take a stroll down memory lane with the wonderful vocalist Dave Lawlor and his many hit songs, The Kingdom I call Home, Carmen, and 57 Chevrolet, all backed by super country Band Matrimony.

This host of amazing stars are all thrilled to be able to gather together to join with the people of Ballinasloe in wishing the much loved Louise a very happy 35th anniversary in country music. A very deserving tribute to a lady who has done so much in flying the banner for country music in Ireland.
