What has happened to Katie Piper’s eye?
KATIE Piper fans have been left concerned for her health.
It comes after the Loose Women star has appeared on TV and in Instagram posts with her left eye closed.
What happened to Katie Piper?
In February 2008, Katie Piper started a relationship with Daniel Lynch after the pair began messaging on Facebook.
However, Lynch raped Katie before ordering a friend to carry out a sickening acid attack, after setting a trap for her.
Unbeknown to her, Lynch had arranged for accomplice Stefan Sylvestre to wait outside her flat and throw sulphuric acid into her face.
Katie was rushed to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for emergency treatment after the attack, as the acid had severely burned her face and blinded her in her left eye.
She was put in an induced coma for 12 days and had to undergo skin graft procedures.
What has happened to Katie Piper's eye?
Following the devastating attack, Katie suffered life-changing burns, as well as blindness in her left eye.
She has since undergone a pioneering operation to restore her face and vision, but has faced many complications since.
In November, 2023, Katie underwent tarsorrhaphy surgery on her left eye, which joins parts or all of the upper and lower eyelids to completely close the eye.

She told her followers at the time of the procedure, which is used to help or heal the cornea: "In my case I am trying to preserve the eye, avoid perforation and loosing my eye completely."
On December 13, 2023, Katie bravely gave a health update on Loose Women as she returned to the show for the first time since undergoing her latest eye surgery.
She said: "I had a planned procedure done called tarsorrhaphy, which is a semi-permanent closure of the eye. It's an operation done in theatre and your eye is fully or partially stitched
"Some people might be familiar with it, you normally see it when somebody has disease of the cornea.
"Closing the eye gives it the optimum environment to heal so I've had quite a lot of problems with my eye over the last year and a half.
"I don't like to go on about it because there's always somebody worse off!"
What did Katie Piper look like before?
Before Katie was attacked, she worked as a model.
The attack left her with deep scarring, that she has had multiple operationS to improve.
