And the BAFTA Award for best brows goes to… OK, we’re being facetious, but Emma Watson’s great brow work deserved a moment of recognition at the British film celebration. The Harry Potter alum provided a masterclass in sun-kissed beauty with a Y2K spin: all bronzer and bobby pins.
In lieu of the Old Hollywood waves stars like Lady Gaga were rocking, Emma left her highlighted hair to do its natural thing, but kept any flyaways away from her face (and let those expertly brushed-up eyebrows do the talking) by fastening a handful of black grips along her center parting. At first glance, her pins were invisible on the BAFTAs 2022 red carpet, but hair and make-up mavens spotted those signifiers of Noughties beauty a mile off.
Emma's waterfall diamond earrings also threw back to the time of rhinestones and patchwork denim. But her balletic dress – featuring a halter-neck black top and tumbling tulle skirts – was resolutely in line with Emma’s style. The eco-minded actor, who checked the green credentials of everything she wore on her most recent British Vogue cover shoot, errs towards monochrome looks in directional cuts, and tonight’s BAFTAs moment showed her perfectly at home channeling the decade she grew up in.
