The European Parliament is arranging a so-called Ukraine Week in Brussels from 29th February to 2nd March. President of the Storting Olemic Thommessen will be taking part on 1st March. He points out that “the European Parliament’s initiative will help to focus the spotlight on Ukraine’s European integration process.”

Committed to the reform process

The President of the Storting’s participation this week is just one element of his commitment to the ongoing reform process in the Ukrainian Parliament. Not only will he be making a speech to Ukrainian parliamentarians during his visit to Brussels, but Mr Thommessen will also be meeting Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, and Volodymyr Groysman, Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.

The Ukraine Week, an initiative that is directed at Ukrainian parliamentarians, kicks off the European Parliament’s formal collaboration programme with the Ukrainian Parliament. The objective of this programme is to strengthen parliamentary support and capacity-building. Around sixty key Ukrainian parliamentarians are expected to attend the conference.
