Ceclia Brækhus (born 1981) is Colombian-born Norwegian professional boxer and former kickboxer.

As of 2019, she has been the undisputed female welterweight boxing champion since 2014, and she is the first female boxer of any weightclass to hold the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles simultaneously. So far, she has fought 35 professional boxing fights and won all of them, including 9 knock-out wins.

In 2018, she was included in the Guiness World Records with three entries:

• Longest reign as a Four-Belt undisputed boxing champion
• Most Bouts Undefeated by a female world champion boxer

She has also been voted Female Boxer of the Year by BoxSport (in 2010) and Female Fighter of the Year by Boxing Writers Association of America (in 2017).

Before the professional boxing career

She was adopted from Colombia by Norwegian parents at the age of two, and started training kickboxing when she was fourteen.

As a kick-boxer (semi-contact), she won two H.M. The King’s Trophy victories, three national championships, the 2002 WAKO Euro Championship 65 kg, and the 2003 WAKO World Championship 65 kg.

Before becoming a professional boxer, Brækhus fought 80 amateur boxing fights and obtained a 75-5-0 record. She took silver in light-welterweight at the 2004 European Championships, gold in light-welterweight at the 2005 European Championships, and silver in light-welterweight at the 2005 World Championships.

Professional boxing career

Brækhus first fight as a professional boxer was against Ksenija Koprek from Croatia.

WBC & WBA championship titles

On March 14, 2009, Brækhus captured the WBC and WBA World Championship titles in welterweight. (The WBA title was vacant; the WBC title was held by Vinni Skovgaard from Denmark.) In May that same year Brækhus had to defend both titles against Amy Yuratovac (from the United States) and did so successfully. She was later challenged by Lucia Morelli and defeated her in Helsinki on September 12.

Adding the WBO championship title

On May 15, 2010, Brækhus won a fight against Victoria Cisneros (from the USA), which meant that in addition to successfully defending her WBA and WBC titles, Brækhus also captured the WBO title in welterweight. Brækhus won all ten rounds against Cisneros and the judges unanimously named her the victor.

Adding the WPBF championship title

On October 30, 2010, Brækhus successfully defended her titles against Sweden’s Mikaela Laurén, a feat that also earned her the Wold Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) title. Brækhus dominated the match and knocked-out her opponent in the seventh round.

First female boxer to hold all major world championship belts in her weight division

Brækhus defeated Croatia’s Ivana Habazin on September 14, 2014, which turned the norgwegian into the world’s first female boxer to hold all major world championship belts in her weight division.
