Imagine a remote tropical island getaway in a luxury villa with a personal chef, a staff member to attend to your every need, and a very posh cottage for your entourage.
It even comes with a 17m Riviera motor yacht.
The House at Lizard Island will open on July 1 – and it’ll only set you back $16,000 per night for two people – plus $4000 for extra rooms. It will cost you $28,000 per night for the house – all three bedrooms – and the cottage – up to eight people in total.
There’s a three night minimum stay.

The new property on a pristine peninsula of the exclusive island 250km north of Cairns is poised to become the ultimate celebrity hideaway, with its emphasis on privacy and personal service.
The estate comprising the two buildings – the cottage was built about three years ago – is owned by Brisbane power couple Steve and Jane Wilson.
Mr Wilson’s late father John Wilson built the first resort on Lizard Island in 1975.
Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest and his wife Nicola’s private investment company Tattarang splashed out $42m for Lizard Island late last year, but the 2500ha purchase of a lease until 2050 does not include the resort, which will manage the house and the cottage.

Lizard Island has long been a getaway for the likes of Ellen de Generes and Russell Crowe, among others.
The estate is on a private corner of the island, has three private beaches, and can house up to eight people.
Guests have a private host, private chef and sommelier and access to a facialist, masseuse and yoga instructor, as well as a naturalist to lead hikes.
Mr Wilson said he wanted a property that paid its respects to sacred land and its history.
“Luxury to me is more about authenticity and experience rather than ostentation,” Mr Wilson said.

“The luxury is witnessed in the position of the house, the thought behind the details and of course, the views, but that’s not to say we’ve denied it any luxuries in design and interiors,” he said.
“Much of the furniture was hand built by a local craftsman.”
He said he wanted guests to be captivated but also comfortable walking inside with sandy feet.
The House was designed by Queensland architect Dr James Davidson with interior designer Sophie Hart creating an authentically Australian feel.
Lizard Island Resort general manager Leon Pink said the house was “the ultimate bucket list experience.”

The hefty price tag includes return charter flights from Cairns, transfers from Lizard Island Airport to The House – either by Lexus or boat depending on what you prefer – and chauffeured transfers between The House and the resort.
A private host on call 24/7 will “attend to your every request” and there’s one hour per couple of day spa services per day, either in house or at the wellness centre, thrown in.
It includes premium food and beverages with a private chef and sommelier on hand for all meals, a sunset cruise and beach dinner, use of an outboard boat, tours, and use of resort facilities including the pools, tennis court, gym restaurant and bars.

The House has three king suites each with an ensuite, an indoor-outdoor shower, outdoor bath and balcony.
It has day beds and a spa on the rooftop, an infinity pool overlooking a beach, custom-crafted furniture and stone and timber surfaces, a full kitchen with adjacent dining terrace, TVs with access to international streaming services, surround sound and luxury bath products.
And yes, there’s Wi-Fi.

The cottage is recommended for an au pair, an older child, grandparents, and has similar luxury features.
The cottage was short-listed as a finalist in the 2017 World Architecture Festival in Berlin.
And for those of us wanting to step onto the hallowed white sand but avoid the whopping price tag, camping at Watsons Bay on Lizard Island is allowed for 10 nights.
