On June 24, 2014, NDU hosted the strategic-level, bilateral exercise United Resolve as part of the Office of the Secretary of Defense-sponsored National Security Policy Analysis Forum. Participants included a Norwegian delegation headed by Minister of Defence Ine Eriksen Søreide and 21 Norwegian officials representing the Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, Justice and Public Security, and the Norwegian Shipbuilders Association. Joining them were the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Derek Chollet and 16 senior US government Officials. Participants worked through a maritime piracy and terrorism scenario that takes place off the coast of Africa to facilitate a discussion on strategic-level national and international crisis management and communication.
