Theodor Kittelsen's Jomfruland

Jun 13, 2014 - Sep 07, 2014

Kittelsen’s fascination with the landscape of the island of Jomfruland outside Kragerø is plain to see in these beautiful drawings. With their lyricism, they show Kittelsen as the poet of nature at his best.

The series of thirteen drawings in pencil, watercolour, pen and charcoal on paper was donated to the National Gallery by the art collector Olaf Schou in 1894.
