You can still find these decade old bottles through third party retailers and collectors, plus new crackle polish options are now being released.
Crackle nail polish is a nail polish topper designed to create a dinosaur egg, peek-a-boo effect that highlights the base color underneath.
It won’t work on bare nails; you can only wear it over the top of a base color coat and it looks great finished with any glossy top coat.
When looking for crackle nail polish, keep in mind it goes by different names: you can find it called crackle top coat, crackle overcoat, or shatter polish.
OPI calls their crackle nail polish “shatter.” Whether you call it shatter or crackle, the finish is the same.
OPI shatter polishes differentiate themselves from the standard OPI bottles in that they have a crackle effect plastic wrap on the neck of the bottle.

Silver Shatter
Silver Shatter is a silver glitter crackle nail polish topper. It’s shown in 1 thick coat over OPI’s Big Apple Red with a glossy, quick dry top coat.
To use OPI crackle polish:
Shake up your bottle to mix the pigments.
Apply 1 thick or thin coat, depending on your preferred finish, over any dried nail polish color. A thicker coat creates bigger, more separated cracks; a thinner coat creates delicate, fine cracks. Finish with your favorite top coat.
