Erna Solberg has served as prime minister of Norway since October 16, 2013, the second female to carry that position.

Solberg was born February 24, 1961. In her final year in highschool , she was elected to the board of the varsity building of Norway, and in her final year in college, she led the Students' League of the Conservative Party in Bergen. She graduated in 1986 with a cand.mag (Master of Arts) degree in sociology, politics , statistics and economics from the University of Bergen.

Solberg began her political career as a deputy member of Bergen council , from 1979 to 1983 and 1987 to 1989. She also chaired local and municipal chapters of the Young Conservatives and therefore the Conservative Party . She was first elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1989 and has been re-elected five times. Solberg served because the minister of government and regional development from 2001 to 2005.
