Great to see more and more companies investing in enhancing their workers mental health and wellbeing. There is a report out of Australia from the Center for Transformative Work Design (Impact of FIFO work arrangements on the mental health and wellbeing of FIFO workers -September 2018) that shows the challenges of this work lifestyle and the benefits derived for both the workers and the company in investing in initiatives and interventions to improve mental health. This report states an estimated ROI of $5.70 for every $1 invested in mental health initiatives in the resource sector. Another thing to keep in mind is that this report was all pre-Covid! Investing in mental and physical health is a preventative maintenance program for people!

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10th every year to raise awareness of mental health issues and to encourage people to seek help if they need it. The theme for 2023, set by the World Foundation of Mental Health, is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’.
