Leeds United full-back Luke Ayling spoke exclusively to LUTV ahead of Monday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Whites come into the match on the back of a narrow home defeat against Everton last week, which ended a two-match winning run.

Ayling reflected on that match and felt the Whites could have got something out of the game.

“I thought we started the game really well and we had a good chance in the first couple of minutes, then the first goal goes in which was disappointing and from our point of view and the second goal, just a mistake from me, I'd gone to sleep on the corner and the flick on and he's free at the back post,” said Ayling.

“I feel like it shows our growth in the last few months that we've gone down goals in the last two games and come back and really put in a good performance against two very good teams.

“We probably could've nicked the draw on Wednesday or maybe even a win on another night, so I think it shows how far we've come.

“In that second half and that we had a few really, really good chances and then a couple of other half chances, which on other days go in and then it's a different result.

“We can be happy with the performance, but the goals are something that we've got a stop leaking because they're two sloppy goals and we can't afford that in his league.”

Monday’s opponents Crystal Palace were 4-1 winners against Leeds at Selhurst Park back in November and Ayling spoke about what he is expecting from the Eagles this time around.

He said: “They've got some really good players and us boys found that out at the start of the season when we got beat quite badly at their place, so we will be looking to put that right.

“They've got few injuries, but they've got some very good players to come in, they've been in the Premier League for a long time and built a good squad, so no matter what team they put out, it will be a good team.

“The last match was a game that we look back on and there were a few things that happened, which maybe if they went differently, it could have been a different game.

“The score-line kind of tells you that it was one sided game, which we don't believe it was.

“The goals that we conceded were fine margins.

“One's an outstanding free kick, but the other three goals are sloppy, there is a bit of a funny one that comes off Helder Costa from the corner flag and goes in, which is hard to take.

“We also had a goal, which is a goal to make it 2-2 which could change the game.

“But in the end, the score-line says 4-1 and it wasn't a good day.”
