Hope College will feature the exhibition “Leadership: Oliphant Cartoons and Sculpture from the Bush Years” by artist Patrick Oliphant.

Hope College will feature the exhibition “Leadership: Oliphant Cartoons and Sculpture from the Bush Years” beginning Friday, Oct. 17, and running through Nov. 22 in the gallery of the De Pree Art Center. The public is welcome at an opening reception featuring artist Patrick Oliphant from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17. This free exhibit features the work of one of Australian-born political cartoonist Patrick Oliphant, known for caustic portrayals of America’s most prominent peoples and events, including cartoons, sketches, oversized caricatures and sculptures in bronze and wax. Designed to correspond with the U.S. presidential election, the show will invite the members of the audience to reflect on their current political choices. The exhibition focuses on the Bush administration, but also includes images of the current candidates and past administrations.

WHEN: Opening reception with artist Patrick Oliphant is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17; exhibit runs through Nov. 22. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Hours may be reduced during breaks and holidays.

WHERE: The handicapped-accessible De Pree Art Center gallery, 160 E. 12th St., on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street

COST: Both reception and exhibit admission are free.
