Brudlaup and Crane

On Saturday 25 August 2012, there was a wedding in Gruo. The wedding ring took place in the large hall in Høgåsen, which Venelaget for Gruo refers to as the "Cathedral". The party was held in Heishuset. The bridal couple, Marte Rommetveit from Stord, well-known voice and spirit in NRK, and Sigurd Sele, shooter and troubadour from Bømlo, had invited 90 guests, family, friends and acquaintances.

Before the trip went into Høgåsen, the guests were equipped with ponchos for possible drips from the mountains. Brura came driving by train in a specially made carriage. The couple had chosen a humane wedding with Harry Lunde as the wedding. Before the wedding there was a reading, song and music. Nina Sele, sister of Sigurd, and Ingelin Skaret read, Camilla Seljebu and Ingjerd Kannelønning Kolstad song. So did the bridegroom to the bride. Heine Totland song when the people went from the wedding ring to the exit. Musicians at the wedding were Ian Kolstad, guitar, Frode Kvandal, guitar, John Kato Hollund drums, Helge Lilletvedt, piano, and Jan Kåre Hystad saxophone.

After the wedding, the bridal couple and fiancé drove by train to Heishuset. Along the railway track stood the guests and greeted the newlyweds. The brother of the brother, Magne Rommetveit, was the chef at the party. There were decks around nine round tables for the guests. The tables were designed and made by Venelaget for Gruo.

The idea to get married in Gruo came to the bride after she and the groom had been on an open day in Gruo and she found out that Heishuset must be an exciting place to celebrate a wedding. It seemed that it was. The friendly team for Gruo received buckets of kind words from the guests and hosts afterwards.
