I made a thing for you! A brand new NEWSLETTER and HIRKA’S HERBAL GUIDE! A while back I asked you on Insta what you’d like as a gift when signing up for a newsletter. You were super sweet to say «you had me at newsletter» But still, Hirka’s plants did come up… (Plants are funny that way)

🌿 So I put together a pdf of HIRKA’S HERBAL GUIDE, with all the plants she uses in The Raven Rings, complete with descriptions and my own drawings, and it’s all yours when you sign up for «Fantastic news», right here on the site.

The herbs of Ymslanda has only ever been available in the Norwegian Collector’s Box, which was limited to 999 copies, so I’m thrilled to share it with you! 😍 And yes, I’m thrilled about the newsletter, too! It’s totally old school, and not dependant on social media, which I think will allow me to be more personal and talk about the actual writing. But we’ll see where it takes us!

YEEEES, FINLAND, Silver Throat is coming to you in October, and SO AM I I’ll be there for Helsinki Bookfair (Helsingin Kirjamessut) to celebrate not just Silver Throat, but also a relaunch of Iron Wolf! Aawww!🥰❤️🐷🐷Say hi to Juva & Hirka, the cutest little pigs that keep Nordvika farm busy. They are absolutely adorable, and the owners must be too, since they are clearly building a fantasy farm! No, it’s not actually art, but naming your loved ones after book characters always make me smile.

This slightly unsettling blood reader’s pendant was made by Norwegian-Sámi artist Linda Solaas (@paganduodji on Instagram) using real hare bone and sea glass. Lagalune and Solde would love it, so creepy and gorgeous! 🙌🖤

IT’S HERE! 🇩🇪😍🙌 Your heart knows what’s coming, and today SILBERKEHLE (Silver Throat) is out in Germany! I hope the book turns out to be everything you hope it will be, that it rips you apart and puts you back together, even stronger than before! My dear magic sparks! I am very pleased to say that I’ll be returning to Norsk Litteraturfestival again this year! This time, I’ll be talking with my Princess Catharina Wandrup, winner of The Raven Rings Prize about her wonderful fantasy «The Lumière Sisters» and with the unicorn Håkon Marcus, who’s been enjoying tremendous success with his debut fantasy, «Feral». Both on Aschehoug, who seem to be on a fantasy roll!

Lillehammer is one of the biggest book fairs in Scandinavia, and it’s always a true pleasure to visit. So yes, I thought this deserved one of those traditional writer in a chair in her castle (I wish) sort of photos, by the brilliant Julie Loen!

«Hirka and Kuro» is the name of this beautiful peace of music that appeared in my inbox this week. Composed by Gustaf Holmbergg from Sweden, these captivating whispers from our Nordic past are created on a «nyckelharpa», (key harp) a traditional instrument he is passionate about (love that!), which according to Wikipedia is «a bowed chordophone, similar in appearance to a fiddle or violin, which employs key-actuated tangents along the neck to change the pitch during play, much like a hurdy-gurdy.» I love this so much, it really is like timetravel. Thank you, Gustaf, I am deeply honored! 🙏❤️

Awww 🥰❤️ Just look at these adorable sketches! Hirka, Rime and Kuro, all together in the sketchbook of @draconic_knott (on Instagram) who has a profile brimming with gorgeous drawings! Everything from The Beatles to robots, and some amazing puppies! Thank you so much for these, Wilbur, I love them! That emblem is brilliant, it would make a great tattoo, or embroidery on the back of my coat.

It’s unbelievable! Exactly as they are described and drawn in the Raven Rings collector’s box. Do you recognize them? I spot Fairy’s kiss, Vengethorn, Evenshade, Sivberry, Lavender and the dreaded Bloodweed. Simply gorgeous collection, as healing as it is deadly! 🤯🙌
