Welcome to the Food Forest Farm plant shop! Here you’ll find many of the plants we’ve been growing in the nursery since 2010. These plants will come to you healthy and ready for their new home.

All of our plants are multi-functional, that is, some perennial vegetables can be eaten by a human, or livestock (leaf hay), or be grown as mulch for biomass, and more! You can look at “All” of the plants, or filter with the navigation bar.

Perennial Vegetables: edible roots, leaves, shoots, buds, seeds that come from perennial herbs, shrubs, and trees

Fruit: edible sweet goodness

Leaf Hay: plants to grow and feed to livestock like cattle, sheep, goats and rabbits

Biomass: herbs, grasses, shrubs and trees that grow fast and can be cut and used as mulch, grow soil, fuel stoves and compost piles

Beautiful honey-scented flowers, fantastic edible broccoli’s (all parts edible, seeds, leaves, roots, flower). Tender tasty leaves can be harvested in fall without weakening plant. Must be kept weed free. Clumping perennial vegetable, suckers if roots are broken by digging.

A new report is out regarding the delicious potential of this plant. My friend Aaron Guman was the lead researching the potential of Sea Kale as a perennial vegetable for food production. See more below…

"[We] believe sea kale has the most potential for its culinary appeal, ease of cultivation and propagation, and longevity... They are very low maintenance once you get them established... These have not been watered since the first spring we planted them... the sea kale also seems unbothered by many of the common pests that cause problems for Brassicas... it attracted a diverse mix of pollinators including flies and small wasps."
