What is Karagöz?

Karagöz is a form of shadow theatre in Turkey in which figures known as tasvirs made of camel or ox hide in the shape of people or things are held on rods in front of a light source to cast their shadows onto a cotton screen.

Who is Cemal Fatih Polat

Cemal Fatih Polat was born in Kırıkkale, Turkey, in the year of 1985. He graduated from Marmara University Department of Economics. However, he took professional theatrical education later on, and he is still acting. Beginning from the 2006, he was also interested in Puppetry, especially Hacivat- Karagoz, a traditional shadow puppetry from Turkish culture. Thus he recieved the education in master-apprentice relationships. Not only in his homeland, but he also represented his cultural values about the shadow puppetry in different countries such as Germany, Brasil, Rwanda and Russia at the festivals.
