Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition

The HPMCC (known as European Human Rights Moot Court Competition) is a simulation of proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights on violations of the European Convention on Human Rights. This event is organized in cooperation with the Council of Europe, it is the largest European competition organized by ELSA and the only human rights competition held in English. This competition is for 2 to 4 member teams of students with 2 coaches. This Moot Court consists of two rounds, of which the first round is in writing, during which teams write written submissions to both applicants and opponents. The top 20 teams will then qualify for the prestigious final in Strasbourg.

Students participating in the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition will gain direct experience with the application of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms on a case-by-case basis. The competitors will undoubtedly improve their argumentation skills and, last but not least, they will surely gain a lot of valuable life experiences
