To any Buffy fans hoping to see Angel again, we have some bad news.

Star David Boreanaz, who played the vampire on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel between 1997 and 2004, has ruled out a return to the character.

In a new interview, the star insisted that he doesn't like looking back, and unequivocally said he is not interested in appearing in a Buffy reunion.

"No, never; that's done, see ya, next," Boreanaz told Parade.

"I have no problem with the cult audience, and I would totally get back into the genre, but I'm not a big reunion guy.

"I tend to like to go forward. I don't like to go backward - except when I've got ice skates on my feet and I'm playing hockey."

While we are yet to get any suggestion of an official Buffy reunion, some of the cast members did meet up last year, with Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Nicholas Brendon (Xander) and James Marsters (Spike) taking selfies for us all to see.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Joss Whedon show's debut, so it hopefully will be acknowledged in some sort of way.

Anthony Head (Giles) previously told Digital Spy that he would be up for a reunion, provided Whedon is involved.
