TV presenter Katie Piper is celebrating her 38th birthday on October 12.

Katie is one of the nation's biggest sweethearts and having starred on shows such Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Women, she has become a much-love TV personality.

The blonde bombshell lives with her husband and two daughters in her lavish London home and puts her beautiful family at the top of her to-do list.

But life hasn't always been easy for the TV and radio presenter, as she became victim to a calculated acid attack back in March 2008 - which left her face severely burned and blind in one eye.

But her adversity to this trauma is what she is best known for, as she battled through her agonising injuries and dozens of surgeries to recover, and saw her attackers be put behind bars with life sentences.

She has since gone on to become a successful novelist and TV presenter 13 years later.

To celebrate this inspiring lady turning 38, let's take a closer look inside her personal life...

Soul mates

She met her husband Richie through a mutual friend

Katie Piper has been married to Richard James Sutton since 2015 having first initially met after being introduced by a mutual friend in 2013.

Richard proposed to Katie a year after they were introduced, and the couple share two children Belle, seven, and Penelope, three.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Katie revealed that she doesn't think she would be where she is today in her career if it wasn't for Richard being such an amazing partner.

She said: "My husband has been really brilliant father and has taken on a less traditional role than some men and this really helped me chase my dreams and follow my ambitions.

Her husband is a carpenter and builder by trade and also does the most to be a hands-on parent.

She added: "I have to give credit where credit is due, everything I've achieved and the way my children are raised is definitely a team effort."

When talking about the early days of her relationship with her now-husband, she revealed that he made her feel so much more comfortable than others before.

She told MailOnline: "He was chatty, witty and looked me squarely in the eye. He never once mentioned my burns, and because he didn't, I didn't either.

"He didn't even stare at them, so I didn't feel self-conscious. He had me relaxed and buzzing with confidence."

Darling daughters

Katie has two young daughters, which came as a surprise to her as she once admitted that she had previously worried that she may not have been able to have kids.

She explained to Hello! that she thought her acid attack could have prevented her from having kids, as she had to take medication that can affect fertility.

Speaking to the publication, she said: "There was a time when I’d resigned myself to never having a family of my own.

"With Penelope, we were trying for over a year and a half.

Speaking about the decision behind her name, Katie added: "It was a name we’d had in mind for Belle and I’ve always liked it.

"We started referring to her as Penelope, even telling Belle because we figured it made the experience all the more real for her. We were amazed when she didn’t let the cat out of the bag because she’s such a chatterbox."

Although Katie does reveal some information about her children, she refrains from posting them fully online and blurs out or covers their faces on social media posts.

Revealing why she doesn't show her children's faces on social media, she said: "I did a photoshoot with each child as a newborn a few days old and that's it have never shown them since and can say I definitely never will. They won't be allowed social media either."

She also said that she believes her kids should earn their own money when they're old enough, and she will teach them to "pay their own way".

Katie told OK!: "They will have to get jobs because I’m not going to support them!"

"They do need to learn about the importance of earning their own money and respecting people."

Homely habits

Katie also revealed to the Daily Star that she often finds herself worrying at home, especially when she is trying to sleep, whether that's about her family, work problems or global issues.

She said: "Honestly, all the time that is my worrying hour when I got to sleep and my husband hits the pillow and is sound asleep straight away and I'm just laying there thinking about the global crisis or whatever."

The inspiring author then went on to reveal that it's a kind of big problem in her family home, as she often stays up late riddled with anxiety while her husband is fast asleep.

She continued: "Honestly, I'm kept up all the time that worrying in my house. My husband hits the pillow and is sound asleep and I'm there laying there thinking about the global crisis or whatever.

"For me, I recognise that I'm an anxious decision maker so I will scatter thoughts all in my mind in a mess.

"So what I've learned to do is keep a notepad and jot concerns down in short form but I will not go into the solutions - because you can not solve anything when you're sleep-deprived.

"I'll go to sleep and wake up and block out 20-30 mins in the diary the next morning and work out how to solve these problems.
