David Boreanaz reveals he is 'too old' to play Angel again from Buffy the Vampire Slayer... but he's 'all for people redoing it'
It's been 23 years since David Boreanaz first debuted as Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the actor revealed he thinks he's 'too old' to play the character again.
Boreanaz played Angel, the vampire love interest to Sarah Michelle Gellar's character Buffy on the first two seasons, before getting his own spin-off Angel, which aired for five seasons between 1999 and 2004.
The 51-year-old actor was promoting the season premiere of his CBS series Seal Team on Variety's The Big Ticket podcast, when he revealed there is no chance he'd play Angel again, though he's open to a reboot.

'No. I’m all for people redoing it or whatever, but I’m too old,' Boreanaz began in the interview.
'It’s not like we’re the cast of Friends reuniting. We’re not hanging out in the coffee shop on a couch,' he added
Boreanaz did joke that new technology, 'made Robert De Niro look really young' in The Irishman, though he wouldn't seriously consider returning to the role.

'I would encourage them to find somebody else to do it,' he added, and he also chimed in on a recent tweet by politician Stacey Abrams.
The Georgia politician sent out a tweet that read, 'To be fair, Angel was the right boyfriend for Buffy coming into her power. Spike was the right man to be with as she became the power,' referring to James Masters' Spike along with Angel.
Boreanaz retorted, 'Your first love is your true love, and your true love is your first love. Game over.'

While he respected the politician, adding, 'Stacey is a great person and all, but I disagree. We can agree to disagree.'
Boreanaz's co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar also responded to Abrams' tweet, posting it on her Instagram story stating she was a 'verified fangirl.'
Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran for seven seasons between 1997 and 2003, and has retained quite the large fan base over the years.

After his Angel days were over Boreanaz went on to star as Seeley Booth on the hit Fox TV series Bones, alongside Emily Deschanel as the title character.
He starred on that series for 12 seasons between 2005 and 2017, though it didn't take him long to find a new gig.
Boreanaz transitioned smoothly to CBS' Seal Team, which kicks off its third season on December 2.
