Thomas Breen, PhD, MD

Dr. Thomas "TR" Breen, PhD, MD, 69, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born on Monday, December 20, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Mary (Falk) Breen. Tom received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his MD from Case Western Reserve University. He was particularly proud in his medical practice to offer home care to his patients. Tom was a faithful member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, birding, stargazing and walking his dog, Trixie.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Madeleine; son, David; sisters, Pat (Joe) Thomas, Barb (Dan) Groomes, Terry (Eddie) Ruhl, Judy (Tony) DiBlasi; brother, Paul (Kathy) Breen; and many other loving family, friends and patients.

The family will greet friends on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hennessey Bagnoli Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron, OH 44310. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 am, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 East Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44310.

Private inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Thomas Breen, PhD, MD.
