Matt Lucas

Matt Lucas as Vicky Pollard in Little Britain

Born 5th March 1974 and raised in a Jewish background in Stanmore, Middlesex, Matt Lucas began his comedy career at the age of 18, performing on the London stand-up circuit as aged actor and raconteur Sir Bernard Chumley.

He was soon spotted by Bob Mortimer, and rose to fame as the giant drumming baby George Dawes on Vic Reeves and Mortimer’s surreal quiz show 'Shooting Stars'.

Lucas is best known for creating and starring in the award winning sketch show Little Britain alongside David Walliams.

Having met at the University of Bristol, the pair had worked together on various TV projects, most notably the spoof interview series 'Rock Profiles', before hitting the jackpot with Little Britain.

With its array of grotesque characters, including Lucas's chav teenager, Vicky 'yeah but no but' Pollard, his misanthropic Fat Fighter Marjorie Dawes, and his allegedly wheelchair bound Andy 'I want that one' Pipkin, the show spawned a generation of playground catchphrases and represented a slice of British society in the first half of the decade.
