Lizard Island Resort and some Great Barrier Reef goodness

LIZARD ISLAND RESORT

Finally I made it  – a long weekend away on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef at the stunning Lizard Island Resort, and boy was it worth the wait!

ISLAND STYLE

Think luxe-lodge style with all the mod cons, yes there are televisions in the rooms but you won’t need them. Why would you when you have twelve pristine, private beaches and the Great Barrier Reef to explore at your doorstep?

SUNNY DAYS

Take a moment and to enjoy and explore the reef, some say it won’t be both us for long and that’s so sad… (watch “Chasing Coral”..which was filmed in part on Lizard Island). I must say the inner reef snorkelling I did opened up a world of flourishing coral gardens and I got to live my tropical island dive with just a handful of the resort’s guests (no shared, touristy reef viewing pontoons in this neck of the woods!)

WHY IS IT SO GOOD?

This island resort remind me a lot of Il Sereno in St Barts, in both layout and style. The accommodations are situated along the beachfront , all emanating from the breezy central pavilion housing the bar, restaurant, pool and spa. Don’t be afraid of going for the lead in Garden Rooms, these are situated almost beachfront just in front of the water sports pavilion with water views through lush jungle gardens.

Besides, if you book with me you’ll probably be upgraded if it’s at all possible.

It’s the perfect family getaway too (though no children under 10 years please), its all inclusive nature means you can just sit back and enjoy the luxe life, where your only decisions need to be which beach you will laze on and what on earth will you order for lunch and dinner? Take my word, the food is simply fabulous as is the wonderful service.  The island’s staff are some of the nicest and enthusiastic travellers I’ve met anywhere whose love for the island and resort becomes infectious.

LET’S GO

So to me, Lizard Island Resort is the ultimate Australian Island destination experience, it’s all top-notch and considering the rates includes all your food, wine, champagne and beer… it favours very well against other luxe option in Far North Queensland. Oh and the spa experience was one of the best I’ve had.

All of my bookings will include:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily full breakfast
  • $100 USD Equivalent Resort or Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Wi-F

What are you waiting for? Unfurl the Camilla Kaftan, press the Orlebar Browns and let’s get booking! You can contact me here.
