Following reports about a potential reboot of hit BBC comedy Little Britain, Matt Lucas has had his say.

The sketch comedy series - which started as a radio show in 2000 before becoming a massively popular TV series between 2003 and 2006 - was written and performed by David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

It has recently been suggested in the press that the show would be coming back for a new series, but those reports have been shut down by funnyman Matt.

Talking to X (formerly known as Twitter) he wrote: “Sorry to disappoint you (or delight you) but the stories in the papers about me and David writing a new series of Little Britain are not true. We're working on a different idea."

Upon previously talking to The Sun about his new project with Walliams, the comedian said: “We are talking about how we can have diverse talent on screen and in the writers' room and conceive it as something which is just not about me and David playing absolutely everyone.”

He added: "That is something we should have done but didn't do back then."

Lucas recently revealed how much he “missed acting” while he was presenting The Great British Bake Off. The Little Britain star left the beloved Channel 4 baking show in December 2022 after three series, and his role was taken over by Alison Hammond during the latest series.

He is now starring in the new Wonka movie as the villainous Prodnose, and while chatting on talkSPORT earlier this month, he admitted that being on Bake Off made him pine for the silver screen.

“Playing a villain is fun,” he explained. “I was missing it. I was doing Bake Off which was great fun. I did Wonka and I was like, ‘Oh, I'd like to do a bit more of this.’”

The actor and writer can also be seen in the upcoming Gladiator sequel, starring Pedro Pascal, Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington.  “I’ve got a little part,” Matt teased. “You don't know because they might edit the movie and then I might not be in it. I shouldn't really talk about it.”
