Angel Reunion Eyed? David Boreanaz Hints ‘Something Is In the Works’
Time to dust off those vampire puns: An Angel reunion may be on the horizon.
Appearing on Tuesday’s The Talk, David Boreanaz hinted that there are plans to somehow commemorate the Buffy the Vampire Slater spinoff’s platinum anniversary this fall. “We’re coming up on our 20 years,” he noted. “That’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that. That’s really where I started my gig in this acting world. I love that character. So I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. It’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.”
Angel made its WB debut on October 5, 1999 and ran for five seasons and 110 episodes. The cast also included Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, Amy Acker, James Marsters, Mercedes McNab, as well as the late Glenn Quinn and Andy Hallett.
Last fall at New York Comic-Con, Boreanaz — who is currently starring on CBS’ SEAL Team — voiced his support for the inthe works Buffy reboot. “Come on, guys, it’s a good thing,” he told the very skeptical crowd. “Let’s just embrace [it]. I’m very happy for them. They want to embrace a new generation, something new.
“Everybody wants old, they want to go back, which I can understand,” he continued. “You want to see us back in these roles. It’s great, it’s cool, [but] things move on, stories evolve, times change. I think it’s a great opportunity for a reboot like this to show where we are with society now, what you can do with technology… I’m all for it.”
Boreanaz even gave his blessing to any actor hypothetically taking on the role of Angel: “If someone can step in my shoes and play my character, f–k, go ahead!” he enthused. “I think that’s great, because I ain’t putting on that makeup anymore!”
I wouldn’t expect anything to big. David seems like he doesn’t like to reminisce on his past characters. Maybe they’ll do an EW reunion like Buffy. Or it’s going back on Netflix..
I actually remember him saying that he wouldn’t come back to do TV but he would do a movie if they went that route. He seems to be the kind of person of “been there done that” but not opposed to going somewhere else with the character.

David isn’t going to play Angel again. Thats pretty clear….. Its gonna be a reunion to celebrate Angel’s 20th year anniversary…..maybe I have read you wrong? Idk
Maybe a Comic Con panel? Though I think The Wiz is right that it might be an EW reunion. Those are cool! I’d love one for Angel.
Good. Its about time Angel got the recognition it deserves. And 20yrs anniversary is huge. Maybe they will have a reunion at comic con, or @ Paley or a magazine shoot. Here for it.

Seeing as NYCC is October 3-6 this year, I wouldn’t put it past TPTB to have a reunion panel on the 5th on the main stage like they did for Boy Meets World last year of 2 years ago for Psych
Given his reticence on discussing his past role as Angel (especially during appearances at SDCC when he was promoting Bones), I’m kinda surprised that he’s now open to discuss the show’s 20th anniversary.
Oh my god. I LOVED this show!! I found I superior to Buffy especially in its later seasons. God I hope this is true!

Angel was never anywhere near as good as Buffy. Its original pitch was good, but they quickly abandoned that idea and the show just became silly. Plus they ruined Cordelia. That is a crime for which the show cannot be forgiven.
I still can’t re-watch the later seasons because I get so pissed when the Cordelia abuse begins.
I agree it literally ruined any love I had for the show. JW was so petty all because CC got pregnant. Doesn’t he even talk about himself as a feminist lol.

Nobody punished Charisma for getting pregnant, she’s stated in later interviews that she wanted to leave the show to become a full time Mom. She also said had she known that Season 5 was going to be the last she would have stuck around for that, but no one new the show was going to get cancelled. She did at least return for 2 episodes.
Bob – totally not true – please get your facts straight before you post misinformation. Charisma has stated multiple times she did not leave by choice. She found out from the media that she was not coming back. It was never her intention to leave the show nor was it her choice to leave to become a full time mom. She returned for one season 5 episode – the 100th episode “You’re Welcome”.
They were both good. I would still watch the reruns if someone would put them on. But I can’t see a remake. Won’t work. Most remakes don’t work.
Agreed. I’d rather see a new series wherein Buffy is the mother, so we can see how each generation has their monsters to fight and their parents always look out of touch.

My favorite actors on the show were all killed off, so I hope they’ll find a way to include them, especially Alexis Denisof and Christian Kane.
If Charisma Carpenter is a part of it, I’m there! She was basically the heart of the show and why I watched – I couldn’t bear to anymore after they destroyed the character (not to mention the greatest love story never told) and got rid of her.
SAME. Joss never should have taken control from DG. It was Greenwalt’s show. He understood it, Cordy, and Cangel. Joss couldn’t grasp that she was the heart of the show and promptly destroyed it. I’ll never get over it and I’ll never forgive him for it.
I thought I read that CC said she and JW had a falling out and it occurred after she told him she was pregant and sure enough that’s the season that destroyed Cordy’s character. I was not suprised that the show got cancelled after they fired her.

I thought the show was canceled a season later after she got pregnant. That and she came back during the final season.
She came back for one episode and I thought I read somewhere that she agreed to do it, but didn’t know Cordy was being killed off until she had signed on to do that episode- then she got the script. It seems clear to me that apart from that one episode Cordelia was not featured at all in season 5 and the ratings probably reflected the audiences’ displeasure and so the show was cancelled.
It’s nice that WB / FOX are planning to do something to celebrate Angel’s upcoming 20th anniversary. Although, I suspect it won’t be new content, but rather some other celebration.
It’s a shame that NBC Universal are unlikely to do the same for Xena: Warrior Princess. They let the 20th anniversary pass without any fanfare and I presume that they’re going to let the 25th anniversary in 2020 similarly pass without any kind of celebration for new and old Xenites alike.

I’m imagining a reunion of some kind, maybe a special on some magazine, just like they did with Buffy. Boreanaz often said that he doesn’t want to play Angel again- also because he obviosuly doesn’t look like a 30 yaers old any longer and Angel is supposed to be immortal and, mostly, eternally youth.

I’m wish TNT still had the reruns on in the AM with Charmed & Supernatural
To my knowledge they aren’t airing on any network right now

I loved Buffy and Angel. Never missed a show and bought all 7 series of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel. Bought jackets,dolls statues and comic books. Will watch remake cause i love Vampire movies and tv shows. I don’t believe anyone can do as great a job as David and Sarah but i will give it a chance. Would be great if David produced the show. Your huge fan Selena.

LOL to people who think there is going to be an actual reboot with the original actors. It would be pretty impossible since at this point, David and James have obviously aged a bit in the past 20 years. I mean, they are still sexy AF, but nobody is buying that they are the same unaged vampires. Would really have to go through some hoops to explain why the vampires look 20 human years older.
Also, if you want a little taste of rebooted Buffy, they just jump started the comic back to square 1 and it is pretty good.
if that happens i though he he did not want to go back as angel again all the sudden he change his mind its not that i dont miss angel i still do but if hes coming at least bring back the others too
I was hooked on Angel show. They did mess up cordelia character, but I liked the show and the direction it was heading. I liked it more when Angelous was around.
I hope they bring it back. It will bring me back to my high school days. The last episode left me hanging. If they need an extra character, I want in!
