OKLAHOMA CITY - With the recent state Supreme Court ruling regarding a Ten Commandments monument at the Oklahoma Capitol, it's unlikely that a plan will move forward to place a monument of Satan there, a spokesman for The Satanic Temple said Tuesday.
In a telephone interview, Lucien Greaves, The Satanic Temple spokesman, said the New York-based organization's Baphomet monument has been placed in storage while the group determines where it will be installed.
Greaves said the group does not want to place its monument on the grounds of the Oklahoma Capitol if the Ten Commandments monument is removed. He said that removal appears imminent because the Oklahoma Supreme Court rejected the state's request to reconsider its ruling against the Ten Commandments monument. The state's top court ruled June 30 that the Ten Commandments monument violates a section of the Oklahoma Constitution prohibiting state property from being used to further religions.
