The Bellissimo Files Presents: Movies & Me
By Sarina Bellissimo
Something I am always intrigued about is what do people's favourite movies tell us about them. What stories will people share as a result of one of their most memorable movie moments? What movie recommendations do they have for us?
They're some of the answers I hope to find out in this podcast, as I ask some well known people about their favourite movies, because, I think you can tell a lot about a person by their movie choices.
The Bellissimo Files Presents: Movies & MeSep 14, 2020
The Bellissimo Files - Special Episode: A Chat With Wendell Pierce (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan)
Today, I’m taking a slight deviation from the Movies and Me podcast to bring you a special short episode. I’m going from the big screen to the small screen because recently I got to chat to one of the stars of Jack Ryan, Wendell Pierce, who plays James Greer.
Before this we came to love him as Bunk in The Wire, and, Robert Zane, Rachel’s dad (Meghan Markle) on Suits. I loved him in all of those roles so I was thrilled to get to chat to Wendell about what he has loved most about being a part of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan; what acting means to him; and of course we couldn’t not talk about The Wire.
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is streaming on Prime Video now.
I am taking a break from the regular Movies and Me podcast. It will be back in September. In the meantime, feel free to go back and listen to episodes you may have missed. If you like what you hear, feel free to rate and subscribe and as always, feel free to get in contact with me on Instagram or TikTok - @sarinabellissimo on both of them, to let me know who you’d like to hear on this podcast next and get to know a little more about them, through their movie choices.

He left school, learnt the trade and then at 17 made his way to Paris where he worked on editorials and fashion shows. At 21, he flew to New York where fashion met celebrities and now he is the hair stylist to some of the biggest names in the world, including the Kardashian/Jenner family, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber to name but a few. But things have gotten even bigger for him, as this week, he has released his own hair care range in collaboration with Penneys, Andrew Fitzsimons x Primark.
Andrew and I chat about his beginnings, the hair care range and everything in between.
Bryan Johnson Talks Just Mercy
One of the most powerful films you will see is Just Mercy, starring Michael B Jordan and Jamie Foxx.
It is based on the incredible true story of world renowned civil rights defence lawyer Bryan Stevenson. He works to free wrongly condemned death row prisoners.
Bryan shared that when he was first approached about the movie, he was sceptical but when he saw that everyone involved wanted to tell the real story – he was on board with it.
When Bryan was giving Michael B Jordan notes on how to play him, he told him the only place he needs to not be authentic is in losing his Creed and Black Panther abs.
In order to do his work, Brian faced a lot of resistance, degradation, and threats, yet he continued because his work is literally saving men’s lives.

Annie Murphy On Schitt's Creek's Final Season
I only discovered "Schitt's Creek" at the beginning of 2019. In three weeks I had binged all 5 series on Netflix so I was thrilled when I got the chance to talk to the fabulous Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose).
Before Annie landed the role of Alexis, life was tough. Her apartment had burned down; she hadn’t had an acting job in 2 years; and only had $200 left in her bank account. She shares with me how she managed to keep going, how the show has changed her life and what part of Alexis she will take with her.
Donal Skehan
Donal joined me to talk about his latest cookbook, "Super Food in Minutes". He also opens up about what living in LA is really like, what recipe he would never include in a cook book and we argue about how many appliances you really need in your kitchen!
"I Like To Work" - Rebecca Ferguson
The latest retelling of the “King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable” tale, “The Kid Who Would Be King” is out on DVD this week. Rebecca Ferguson plays the villain, ‘Morgana’, in the movie.
I loved sitting down with Rebecca as she was so refreshingly open and honest.
We spoke about so many different things in our 10 minute conversation – the film, consent, gender equality, raising boys, making movies, working out, how she feels about committing to two more “Mission Impossible” films, and so much more. This is a chat definitely worth listening to.
