Cranesbill geranium is a beloved woodland wildflower found throughout New England, often growing in moist, organically-rich soils. This spring bloomer puts out a delicate flower ranging in color from white to pale pink to lavendar depending on sun conditions and other variables; the leaves are deeply lobed and textured, adding visual interest. The flowers give way to distinctively beaked seed capsules. Plant on woodland gardens and borders in average to moist soil. These plants will tolerate some drought once established. 'Espresso' is a cultivar with chocolate-colored leaves that veer into purples and dark greens depending on the light conditions.
