Shakira is getting candid about life as a single mom to her two boys.

In a new interview with Zane Lowe, the "Hips Don't Lie" singer, 47, discussed her relationship with her sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, whom she shares with ex Gerard Piqué. Saying that she's often "very busy," Shakira notes that her days are jam-packed as she tries to fit in family time.

"I've been shooting a video, shooting photos, preparing for another video, preparing for my album release," the mom of two says. "So I'm going to sleep every day around 9 a.m. The next day, 9 a.m., 11 a.m."

"Yesterday, I came home at seven in the morning. My kids were already waiting for me, so I had breakfast with them, stayed up with them. Sometimes I don't even go to sleep until it's their bedtime. That's what I do because I want to spend time with my kids and put them to bed and then I pass out."

Adding that "it's been intense," Shakira chalks it up to the "beauty" of balancing it all.

"It's the first time I have to actually, you know, deal with so much as a single mother. So, it's challenging. But they're great."

In November, Shakira brought her sons along as her plus-ones when she attended the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards. As she accepted the award for Song of the Year — a category in which she was nominated for three separate tracks — the musician dedicated the honor to her boys.

Explaining in Spanish that she promised her boys "that I will be happy," Shakira said, "I have promised them that they will have a mother who will laugh as hard as she can, because they deserve it."

Adding that she wants to put that happiness into the music she writes and anything she puts out in the world, she concluded, "As a friend once told me, there is nothing in the past. Only the future is remembered."

Shakira and Piqué, 37, publicly ended their 11-year romance in June 2022.
