Night Embers Daylily Features:

‘Night Embers’ daylily is unlike any other! Fluffy double blooms are an alluring deep Bing cherry red color with gold wire edges—a rare color in double daylilies. This is a stunning double daylily and a delight to see amidst all the bolder, brighter colors of the summer garden. ‘Night Embers’ has 5″ blooms and scapes 30″ tall. This mid-sized beauty is elevated by a light fragrance and good rebloom.

Thanks to its fabulous gold wire edge, it looks especially eye-catching when planted among yellow, gold and deep purple flowers in the early to midseason garden. Honestly, it’s just perfect anywhere you want to make an impact.

Night Embers is a Semi-Evergreen variety which means it can grow in any planting zone. An early to mid season daylily, we first see these lovely double blooms in early to mid June. If you are to the north of us, you can expect to see them a bit later. If you are to the south of us, you’ll likely see them a couple of weeks before we do.

HOW TO GROW DAYLILIES: Daylilies are very easy-to-grow. They like a lot of sun and they like a lot of water. For more information on how to care for daylilies, click here.
WHAT DAYLILIES CAN I GROW: Most of you can grow any of the daylilies we sell. If you live in an area with a sustained cold period like we do in East Tennessee, you can grow all the varieties. However, If you live in an area that doesn’t get freezing weather in the winter (like zones 9 and 10), dormant varieties won’t work for you; you’ll need to choose evergreen or semi-evergreen varieties.

BIG PLANTS! When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and bloom more quickly!

FARM-FRESH TO YOU! All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

BONUS DAYLILIES: We send free daylilies (we call them “bonus” daylilies) with every order. These daylilies are equal to about 20% of your order, you get to choose what you’d like at checkout.

ABOUT US: Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that’s been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation– including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you—with one daylily in a home garden.

  1. Just keeps getting better!

    Tim Clark

In my zone 6 garden here in southwest Ohio, Night Embers just keeps getting better and better over the years. I highly recommend it’s big double blooms for a deep, dark bloom with a thin gold edge. The blooms are just so rich and deep that you’ll want to take pictures of every one!

    Breathtaking daylily

    Kay Comer (verified owner)

This is a stunning daylily. Takes your breath away, Night Embers is the perfect name. The deep cherry red, edged in bright gold and the reverse is the same gold. Seems to get darker as the day goes on but never disappoints. My plant did not do much year one, year 2 was amazing, have great hopes for year 3 and then I am going to divide!! An unexpected surprise was the proliferations at the end of the season this past year. Collected three viable proliferations this year.

  5. Perfect double

    [email protected]

Consistently double, keeps it color and design, stands up well to weather. The only reason I didn’t rate a five is because it doesn’t produce many buds on this 2-year old plant (3 scapes, 29 buds, bloomed 32 days.) It’s one of the lilies I pick and put where I can enjoy it in the house because it’s an unusual beauty.

One of my favorites. Vigorous plants, reliably double and holds its color well. Produces a moderate number of blooms. If you like doubles and deep reds then you will want this in your garden.
