Echium russicum is a fully hardy plant native to Russia and Eastern Europe. Short stout stems carry whorls of long lance-shaped dark green leaves, and a long succession of foot-long spikes of stunning, crimson russet flowers with prominent protruding red anthers. Flowers 24 months after sowing so an exciting candidate for the perennial border.
