Patricia Urquiola Debuts First Solo Exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

She designs five-star hotels, serves as the art director of Cassina and Haworth, and belongs to the Interior Design Hall of Fame. But “Patricia Urquiola: Between Craft and Industry” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is the prolific architect’s first solo exhibition. And it will be a thoroughly comprehensive one. Among the designs on display will be her seating for Cassina, B&B Italia, and Moroso, her lighting for Flos, and her porcelain tableware for Rosenthal, all appearing alongside photographs of such projects as the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, in her native Spain. Furthermore, the night before the show’s opening, on November 19, Urquiola will join the ranks of Paula Scher and the late Zaha Hadid in receiving the museum’s Collab Design Excellence Award.
