This is my third spring with Louise Odier. First season she grew 3 feet at least and pumped out a flush of leaves, but was seriously impacted by black spot and had no flowers at all. Second season she gained another foot in height, produced maybe 5 small, spindly flowers; terrible black spot; terribly disappointing. Our past winter was really hard, with a super-hard freeze after the rose had already begun to come out of dormancy. I wondered if she would die, since we lost quite a few plants in that freeze. We have now arrived at the third spring and not only did Louise Odier survive our late freeze, but her performance is GLORIOUS! If you have purchased this rose and wonder when she will produce, give her until year 3. Be patient!! This spring's first flush (still going) has seen maybe 100 blooms, and the bush is covered with maybe another hundred buds, still waiting to open. The fragrance is so intoxicating it's unbelievable; it transports the senses to another realm that must be paradise, The flowers are not large (might be larger if I took off some of the buds) but the color is a stunning deep pink that almost glows. Even if she does get black spot as the season goes along, a little bit of spray (which I generally try to avoid) is worth it for the show. I am so, so glad I waited to see how she would do in year three!

Hands down to Louise! I think she could be classified to a zone 4 rose. I’m in 5b and we had a very harsh and extremely long winter. Louise was my first girl to show signs of life about a week and a half ago. She grew the largest out of my 7 heirloom roses I ordered last year and bloomed repeatedly for her first year. Every cane is almost completely green again, I’m beyond thrilled. The blooms are beautiful and I can’t wait to see how well she does this summer.

I am new to roses, but have been reading and using this site to learn. I planted in the Spring, and it quickly bloomed. The color is lovely, and it really does look like it came out of some ancient garden.

I bought a Louise Odier for my daughter and one for myself. The plants arrived in perfect condition. We planted according to instructions and had buds appearing within a few weeks. In the ground and blooming in less than a month! I can't wait to see how this beautiful rose matures. Planted in central Ohio.

Louise has been in the ground a bit over two months and is blooming like crazy! The blossoms have a fragrance of incense and the bush is sending up new canes--it is happy and so am I--
