Murallas de Covarrubias is a medieval defensive wall located in the small Spanish village of Covarrubias in Burgos province of Castile and León. Its construction began in the 14th century, and it was finished by the end of the 15th century. The walls are divided into four sections, each measuring 1000 meters in circumference and consists of 25 towers. A moat of the walls can also be seen on the western side. One of the highlights of this wall is the watchtower placed at the highest point with a unique Church of Santa María de la Mota with a 16th-century chapel built upon it. The town remains surrounded by the wall and is a major attraction for its beauty, architecture, and historical significance. Visitors can go to the wall and enjoy the fantastic view of Covarrubias from the top of the watchtower. Murallas de Covarrubias is an excellent of sample of medieval architecture and definitely, one of the must-visit places near Burgos.
