air burst has been around for a while, the old Carl gustav recoilless rifles we had in the army would fire airburst rounds, granted the computerized system does make it easier.

They've been in use in Afghanistan for months now in limited numbers. If I recall correctly, the unofficial name for these is the "XM25 Punisher" which is just a bad ass name all by itself.

Other nations already have something similar.. Korea already deployed one that also fires 5.56 round, w/ the UAE already having bought Korea's rifle (for testing first.. not sure if they bought in full scale yet). However, it's only a 20mm grenade, compared to this 25mm, but the entire system costs ~$15k. S. Africa is nearly done fielding theirs.
