a child, Larry Sultan moved with his parents into their dream home in the San
Fernando Valley, just outside of Los Angeles. Decades later, the adult film
industry began renting homes in the area for short shoots, staging explicit
scenes in suburban households that looked very much like Sultan’s own.
Fascinated by the idea of his childhood home and adult films existing in the
same suburb, Sultan began photographing the shoots, creating images of private
domestic interiors momentarily inhabited by strangers. Captured in a quiet
moment of boredom between scenes, Tasha lounges while other actors perform
outside.
