Nature’s wonders are countless. Geiranger Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an example of such a natural marvel. An inlet formed by glaciers that is long and narrow, with steep slopes or cliffs, known as a fjord (or fiord).

Interesting facts about Geiranger Fjord!

  • Geiranger Fjord is situated in Norway, Europe.
  • Norway’s coastline is estimated to have nearly 1,200 fjords. It is one of the most famous tourist spots along the coastline.

  • Geiranger Fjord is surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, and lush green forests, making it a spectacular sight.
  • Although only 260 metres deep, the fjord is surrounded by mountains that rise to 1600-1700 metres above sea level.
  • The fjord is also noted for its stunning waterfalls and abandoned fjord farms, which may be found across the region.

Breathtaking Landscape!

  • The Seven Sisters Falls and the Suitor are the most well-known waterfalls in the Geiranger Fjord, and they are located on opposite sides of the fjord.
  • Geiranger is a small settlement located at the extreme end of the Geiranger Fjord, at the mouth of the fjord.
