Cartoonist's note: The Association of American Editorial Cartoonists convention ends today. This is the last of the guest cartoonists I will feature so I thought I'd end with the best: Pat Oliphant.

When I started cartooning, lo, those many years ago, Pat Oliphant was the master and I was the student. Now, after three and a half decades, Oliphant is still the master and I am still the student.

This week I've heard cartoonists with impressive bodies of work and even more impressive egos acknowledge a simple fact: Oliphant is the unassailable master of our art.

He is joining us in Salt Lake and we will toast his almost fifty years of poking the powers-that-be with the sharpest of all possible sticks. Cheers!
