Elecampane (Inula helenium) also called horse-heal or elfdock looks like a big thick daisy. It can reach up to two meters in height. It is a perennial plant, with deep roots, which when dried smells like violet and has a strong, bitter taste. It has strong hairy stalks. branched at the top, and long, pointed green leaves with thick teeth, gray and fluffy at the bottom. The plant grows in Europe, West Asia.

In modern herbal medicine Inoula is used mainly for the treatment of disorders of the respiratory system as well as as a digestive tonic. It is mainly used against irritant bronchial cough, it acts beneficially on all problems of a pulmonary nature. It can be used where there is a strong runny nose such as bronchitis or emphysema, due to its expectorant and anti-spasmodic properties, which make it ideal for the treatment of cough and bronchitis. The active ingredients helenin and allantolactone contained in the herb are powerful antiseptics and bactericides.

Making Tea: Put 1 teaspoon of the dried herb in a cup of cold water and leave it for 8-10 hours, and then warm it and serve it when it's very warm.
Drink up to 3 cups a day.
