Shutter Speed is another key setting for taking some nice pictures. In simple, if you have a long shutter speed like 3 seconds for example, the cameras shutter will stay open for 3 seconds, this lets more light enter the camera. You would normally choose a longer shutter speed when you want to capture movement or low-light shooting. A faster shutter speed like 1/1000 second, will make the camera shutter stay open for 1000th of a second. This is useful for a picture where you want to just show a fast moving subject without any motion blur, but beware, when using a slower shutter speed, the camera shutter opens and closes so fast meaning a darker image.
The image on the Far Left is captured using a slow shutter speed. You can see the water has some motion blur which is showing the movement. The shutter was probably open for like 1 or 2 seconds. The Middle image is using an average shutter speed, which captures some of the movement but adds some extra detail in the image. The shutter speed was probably around 1/10 to 1/30. The Far Right image is using a really fast shutter speed, probably around 1/2000 to 1/4000. You can see there is no longer any movement captured with all the detail preserved.
