Habitat
Rocky clearings. Also occurs in woods after fire.
Associates
Distribution
Most frequent in Allegheny Mountains. This specimen was found in Onondaga County NY. Endangered in KY and RI. Threatened in ME, MD, MA, NH, OH, and TN. Extirpated from IN and rare in the Chicago region.
Morphology
Delicate, biennial vine to 10'. Leaves blue-green, pinnate compound; leaflets with 3 deeply cut lobes. Flowers pink, petals 4 (2 inner, 2 outer), stamens 6, sepals 2, corollas spongy.
