Abstract
A blanket or cover that includes additional material on the top portions to inhibit one user from the taking top portion of the cover from a second user. The blanket is split generally down the middle from the top to about half of the length of blanket. Additional material is included on each of the left and right portions that extend over each other over the split, with the left and right portions being generally “L” shaped, with the left portion mirroring the right portion. The extra material on each of the left and right portion being configured to move with each user when they move or roll over.
Description
- The present invention relates to blankets, sheets or covers, and more particularly, but not by way of limitaion to a device used to cover at least two persons and ensures each covered person adequate material to remain covered.
- Obtaining a good night sleep is paramount for ones ability to function at their best in the coming day. In order to achieve a good night sleep, one must typically have quiet, little or no light and most importantly, be comfortable. Providing a comfortable sleeping environment relies on tailoring to ones sleeping behavior. And as most married persons share the same bed, accommodating for more than one person in the same bed has never been an easy task.
- The battle for sheets between couples sleeping in the same bed has been problematic since the day bed sheets were invented. One may toss and turn, inadvertently causing the other to lose their fair share of sheets thus compromising their level of comfort and ability to get a good night sleep. Therefore, it would be advantageous to develop a blanket, sheet or cover sheet that allows for individual cover ownership yet maintains some of the basic form factors of a typical blanket, sheet or cover such that it fits most typical beds.
- A more complete understanding of the present invention may be had by reference to the following Detailed Description and appended claims when taken in conjunction with the accompanying Drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of the present invention with the extra portion of the right side shown over the extra portion of the left side; -
FIG. 2 illustrates the left portion of the present invention with the right portion cut away; and -
FIG. 3 illustrates the right portion of the present invention with the left portion cut away. - Referring now to the drawings wherein like or similar elements are designated with identical reference numerals throughout the views and figures, and wherein the various elements depicted are not necessarily drawn to scale, and in particular, to
FIG. 1 , there is shown acover 100 that is typically used with a bed to provide covers for the users. The cover includes aleft side 102, aright side 104, a bottom portion 106 (to be placed at the foot of the bed), and a top portion 108 (to be placed at the head of the bed). - As illustrated the
right side 104 includes anextra portion 110 which is extendable past the center of thecover 100, while theleft side 102 includes anextra portion 120 which is also extendable past the center of thecover 100. - As illustrated in
FIG. 1 , whencover 100 is laid out flat, theextra portions right side 104 and theleft side 102 respectively are of sufficient material to allow overlap. It is contemplated to be within the scope of this invention thatcover 100 could be, but is not limited to a blanket, sheet, comforter, quilt, or virtually any cut of material used to cover multiple users. -
FIGS. 2 and 3 help to further illustrate the present invention, withFIG. 2 more clearly illustrating theleft portion 102 ofcover 100 withextra portion 120 and withFIG. 3 more clearly illustrating theright portion 104 ofcover 100 withextra portion 110. As illustrated inFIGS. 2 and 3 ,right portion 104 andleft portion 102 are generally “L” shaped withleft portion 102 mirroringright portion 104. Good result have been achieved by making thelengths extra portions cover 100, although it is contemplated to be within the scope of this invention that these lengths could be varied based on user preferences. As is further illustrated theextra portions cover 100. - Referring now to
FIGS. 1-3 , the use and operation ofcover 100 will now be described. Typically thecover 100 is applied to the bed in a typical manner. Two users are covered withcover 100, with one user generally under the left portion and one user under the right portion. The separation of the upper portions ofcover 100 helps to define each users sleeping area. Their feet are to be at or under thebottom portion 102 ofcover 100, while the upper portion of their bodies are to be at or under thetop portion 108 ofcover 100. If either user rolls or moves away from the other user or the center ofcover 100, while holding thecover 100, theextra portions cover 100, or as a result of the friction between the user and or his clothing and cover 100. For example, if the user under the right side ofcover 100 were to roll or move away from the user under the left side of thecover 100,extra portion 110 moves with the user under the right side and will provide extra coverage for the right side user, thus preventing him from stealing or removing the covers from the user under the left side. - As can be appreciated one advantage of
cover 100, is that it can be made of a size to easily fit a variety of size beds, such as, but not limited to, full, queen and king sized beds. Additionally, it can be appreciated thatcover 100 could be made of virtually any material such as, but not limited to, silk, satin, wool, cotton, linen, denim, synthetic material, or combinations thereof. However, good results have been achieved using cotton, as cotton is durable and proven to be easy to maintain. - In the preceding detailed description, reference has been made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments, and certain variants thereof, have been described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that other suitable embodiments may be utilized and that logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. The description may omit certain information known to those skilled in the art. The preceding detailed description is, therefore, not intended to be limited to the specific forms set forth herein, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents, as can be reasonably included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
